I really like this place.  The meat tastes different than Gop Chang on Fire, but the sides are what makes this one stand out.  The other advantage is that there’s never really a long wait.

One of my favorite places for “home cooking” Thai food.  There is something to be said about comfort food from all cultures–nothing fancy in the presentation, the point is to eat and be happy. 🙂

Open everyday from 8am onward!

I like this place because it’s wide open seating without all the hustle and bustle and craziness of Sweet Hut.  However the shelves are often bare though.  Visiting in the evening there isn’t as much variety or quantity in the baked goods like Mozart or any of the Sweet Huts.  One day this past winter I saw every seat taken, but hardly anything for customers to snack on.

Having said that though, I do like the above desserts.  They look really sweet, but it’s just enough for Asian taste buds.  The custard isn’t even to the sugar level of banana pudding, and the light chocolate in the croissant is something I like.  If you were to compare them to the sweetness of a Snicker’s bar (say level 8), those two desserts are like a level 3.

The toasted bread with the cherry tomatoes wasn’t as good as the picture, and something I can’t recommend.  The bread was a bit hard, and the very nature of cherry tomatoes is sour.  For me I’ll take a plain fried Chinese cruller from Chef Liu any day!

These desserts again are very light and I think a good complement to a sweet iced drink or a coffee.

Paris Baguette also has a very pretty refrigerated section with colorful cakes, breads and cookies.  The box of macarons below contains 4 and is about $10.50.  I do have to say the packaging is quite alluring.  How do they taste?  I have no idea, I’ll have to get the review from the ladies that are normally the recipient of this somewhat pricey gift box. 🙂

Open Everyday from about 11am – 10pm

Being Asian (Lao), we really don’t crave sweet stuff after every meal (besides fresh fruit) but it’s nice every now and then to find baked goods that won’t land you in a sugar coma. 🙂  The ample slice of red velvet cheesecake was pretty good!

I really like the popping pearls in the bubble tea as well.  It’s an interesting texture and different from the normal lychee jelly chunks I always get in my mango slushes.

About Me

Hello there! My name is Boon, an artist/photographer out of the Atlanta, Georgia area. I guess you could say I'm also a "tour guide" of sorts for visitors, or even friends who haven't strayed from their culinary comfort zone. I haven't been everywhere, but I've been lucky enough to share plenty of delicious meals with friends and family over the years!

So for those of you thinking about visiting or even moving to the "sleepy south," hopefully you'll quickly find that the metro Atlanta area is so diverse with some of the best food!

Thanks for visiting my food blog--an offshoot of all my random adventures with friends and family.

About Atlanta, GA, U.S.A.

Atlanta, specifically Gwinnett and DeKalb County has some of the best Asian food in the southeast U.S. In fact, some folks from surrounding states drive 4-5 hours here just to eat and grocery shop!

We are definitely spoiled as you can find everything from Korean, Ethiopian, Indian, Indonesian, Mexican, Chinese, Lao, Thai, and Vietnamese food--combined with dozens of Asian coffee and dessert hang outs.

If you're new to this area, brave our horrible traffic, and just take a drive up and down Buford Hwy, Jimmy Carter Blvd and Pleasant Hill Road. So much to eat in every direction! :)

Meet me for Dinner! :)
